Brindisi Airport – overall upgrade and refurbishment (2016)
15 June 2016
DETAILS:
Airport traffic: 6 mil pax/year
Client: ADR S.p.A. — Aeroporti di Roma
Service: Preliminary and detailed design — Taxiways AB and AC to ICAO Code F
Value of works: €0.37 million
Reference code: ICAO Code F
Year: 2016
TASK:
Pavement condition established across five separate indices, then slopes corrected and the taxiways rebuilt to Code F — with a staging plan that kept the airport open. Under a framework agreement with Aeroporti di Roma, Air Alliance co-ordinated the specialist surveys and carried out preliminary and detailed design for pavement refurbishment and an overall upgrade of Taxiways AB and AC to ICAO Code F standards. The design set out new geometry in line with Code F, new slopes, markings and signs, pavement design and calculations, and a new maintenance plan. A detailed analysis of operational constraints produced a construction staging plan allowing the works to proceed within a live airport with minimal impact on airline operations.
