TASK:
A capacity review of a terminal in miniature — check-in, baggage handling and screening, document control and security — tested against 25 years of traffic growth. Oman Airports had leased a 25,000 m² site alongside the new passenger terminal for a dedicated crew facility, and Air Alliance was asked to review the proposed design and establish whether it would hold up. The review was structured in three steps: expected traffic for each facility in each five-year period, expressed as a 20-minute peak, capacity and level of service at each growth stage, and a layout review to optimise flows for vehicles, crew, staff and baggage. IATA ADM standards provided the reference, with the calculations customised to the particular character of each facility.
