TASK:
A control point sized for the queue as much as the check — road circulation, holding space and a building for the staff who work there. Under a framework agreement with Aeroporti di Roma, Air Alliance co-ordinated the specialist surveys and carried out preliminary and detailed design for a new airside vehicle safety and security control facility, a dedicated area giving adequate space to check vehicles before they are allowed airside. The client asked that road circulation be studied properly, that enough space be allowed for vehicle queues, and that a building be designed to accommodate security staff along with stocking areas for equipment and services. After review with the airport management company’s specialists and operators, the preferred layout option was taken to detailed design.
